“What do you want to do for the rest of your life?” I asked my client and friend Robert, a highly successful property mogul who had that part of his life down pat. He flew from San Diego all the way to Seattle in his rented Cyrias airplane to visit me to discuss his future.
He began flying after building a successful real estate business that allowed him to retire in his forties.
Like many of us, he worked hard to climb his mountain of success, only to find that now it’s the wrong mountain. You might feel the same way—like:

Most People Won’t Get in A Small Aircraft With A New Pilot (Especially If It’s A Woman)
Robert was one of a few people who’d fly with me when I got my pilot’s license in 1992 and had purchased my own Cessna 182. Bitten by the flying bug way back then, he was now ready for his own journey into flight.
New pilots typically don’t fly any further than their tri-state area. But his desire to be in the air overrode his fears, as he piloted solo all the way to the Caribbean, and up to Alaska.
It was so unusual that the people in charge of the Flight Base Operations for private pilots got curious: They wanted to know what he was doing, how he was doing it, and why.
So that day, after he’d flown miles over 1000 miles from San Diego to see me in Seattle, looking for guidance on what to do with this next phase of his life, I told him I could see how passionate he was about flying.
“You should share your flying adventures,” I said. “You should tell other pilots about your flights to inspire them to venture further in their flying. And all speakers should be authors, so let’s create your brand and write a book so you will be remembered for who you are: an aviator and adventurer. It’ll be your stake in the ground.”
So we did, and we titled it Flying Thru Life | Achieving Altitude in Business and in Life.
Within only a couple years he became a thought leader in the aviation community, regularly speaking at large conferences with his plane on display. His flights are sponsored by huge companies like Honeywell, MT-Propeller – 95 sponsors in total, equaling millions of dollars in sponsorships.
He grew exponentially because he was willing to become a messenger for what he was fired up about which ultimately brought him fulfillment by inspiring others with his message.
